A Social Media and Marketing Manager is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to enhance a brand's online presence, engage with customers, and drive business goals across various digital platforms. This multifaceted role combines creativity with analytical skills to build brand awareness, foster community engagement, and ultimately impact sales or lead generation.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategy Development: Design and implement comprehensive social media and marketing strategies that align with overall business objectives.
- Content Creation and Curation: Generate, edit, publish, and share high-quality, platform-specific content (text, images, video, blogs) daily to build meaningful connections and encourage engagement.
- Community Management: Monitor and manage online communities, respond to comments and customer queries in a timely and professional manner, and oversee customer service provided via social channels.
- Campaign Management: Plan and execute marketing campaigns, promotions, and contests, including paid social media advertising (PPC) and influencer collaborations, while managing allocated budgets.
- Performance Analysis and Optimization: Track, monitor, and analyze performance metrics and KPIs (e.g., reach, engagement rates, conversion rates) using tools like Google Analytics, using these insights to optimize future content and strategies.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other internal teams (e.g., sales, creative, PR) to ensure brand consistency and cohesive messaging across all channels.
Trend Monitoring: Stay up-to-date with the latest digital technologies, social media trends, algorithm changes, and best practices to keep the brand's online presence relevant.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
- Experience: Proven experience in a social media management or digital marketing role with a strong portfolio of campaigns.
We are willing to train/teach and develop skills over this period as well. - Must know how to do basic graphic designs using tools such as PDF Illustrator, Canva and the likes
- Education: A Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field is often preferred.
- Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with social media management tools), analytics software (e.g., Google Analytics, Facebook Insights), content management systems, and basic graphic design principles.
- Analytical Ability: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
- Creativity and Adaptability: A creative mindset to generate engaging and innovative content, coupled with the flexibility to adapt to a fast-paced, constantly evolving digital landscape.
- Organizational and Project Management: Strong time management and organizational skills to handle multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
Typical Career Progression
With experience, a social media manager can progress to roles such as Senior Social Media Manager, Head of Social Media, Digital Marketing Manager, or even Chief Marketing Officer.
